Actually this is not Dikir Barat, it's a song in Kelantanese dialect. I think this video is somehow funny and disturbing at the same time.. why? because it has no respect for Mr. Ultraman.

I love P.Ramlee's song & films. One of my personal favorite is "Dimanakan ku cari ganti" and "Seniman bujang lapok".

Personally, to me, no other Malaysian artist has achieve such amazing quality and standard in the Malaysian Film Industry besides him. He is the icon of Malay entertainment.

Well if you are a Malaysian, and you worship Frances Coppola's Films, or perhaps Quentin Tarantino's film or may be Steven Speilberg's film but then again you never like P.Ramlee's movies then perhaps you are not a true Malaysian...

Check this dude singing one of P.Ramlee's song "Di Renjis-renjis Di Pilis', sounds a bit out of key but heck, atleast he know how to pronounce the words (unlike some Malaysian out there)...

Since this blog is about Malaysia, I've been thinking about publishing something related to Malaysian traditional past time. Just now I stumble upon a video of a guy singing with a group of men, performing dikir barat.

To be honest, I don't know much about dikir Barat except that one person will sing (and he is call a tukang karut) and the lot others will follow. Sound confusing? Well, here's from wiki;

Ok, this video clip is totally weird. I mean, I’ve seen silat Melayu in action before. Their performance is purely choreographed. But this one is totally unique. Judging from the quality of the film and the hair fashion of the Silat Master, I’d guess that the video was made sometimes in the 80s or 70s. They jump from high building (I mean really jump!) & through glasses.
